Inheritor of Earth from Holy Prophet’s Etrat
The beginning of Surah Al-Qasas is about the story of Bani Isra’il and the birth of Moses (AS). While in all of these verses the verbs are in the past tense, Verses 5 and 6 use the future tense: “But We have decided to grant a favor to the suppressed ones by appointing them leaders and heirs of the land.” (Verse 5)
The word Mustaz’af that is used in Verse 5 of Surah Al-Qasas, in its Quranic sense does not mean people without power, plan and goal but someone who has the necessary forces for perfection, power and magnificence but is under the pressure of the ruling oppressors. While in Istiz’af, he thinks of justice, nobility and Taqwa (piety).
Aeimma (Imams) refers to leaders whom others must follow, like a prayer leader whop worshippers follow.
Manna means granting a great and heavy blessing and in this verse, imamate is a great divine blessing: (by appointing them Imams (leaders)).
According to this verse, the definite divine will is to make the Mustaz’afeen heirs to the land and while the verse is about Bani Isra’il, the appearance of the verse and the Hadiths about this verse point to the fact that it refers to a divine law and the will of God to make the Mustaz’afeen triumphant against oppressors in the world under certain conditions, and the highest example of it is the realization of this rule by the advent of the Savior.
In Verse 4 of Surah Al-Qasas, we read: “The Pharaoh dominated the land and divided its inhabitants into different groups, suppressing one group by killing their sons…” Hence, it seems to suggest that God will make those who have been suppressed Imams and heirs to the earth.
According to Hadith from the Holy Prophet (PBUH), narrated by Muslim: ““How will you be when the son of Mary (i.e. Jesus) descends amongst you and your imam is among you.” It shows that the Mustaz’af people who will rule the earth in the future are from Muslims.

The Holy Prophet (PBUH) also said: “There will never cease to be a group within my Ummah who will be fighting upon the Truth, victorious till the Day of al-Qiyamah. Then, ‘Isa b. Maryam (AS) will descend, and their amir will say, ‘Come and lead us in salat.’ But, he (‘Isa) will reply, ‘No. Verily, some of you are the amirs of the others. This is the honour of Allah to this Ummah.’”
It can be inferred from this Hadith that, first, this group has always been striving on the path of the truth, and, second, the amir of this group has such a lofty status that an ulul-Azm Prophet follows him in prayers. The question raised here is: Who is this Imam? More than 50 Sunni sources have narrated that Hadith that the Holy Prophet (PBUH) said: “Mahdi is from my Etrat (generations) and he is the descendent of Fatimah (SA).”
